Reckless Abandon

A heavy step,
Reflecting on the heart.
A deep breath,
To relieve some pain.
A single tear,
Betraying her mask.
A facial twitch,
To show his surprise.

He clenches his fists,
To stop himself from grabbing her wrists.
Wishing she'd take back the goodbye,
Not knowing she wants him to fight.
For her.
To stop her.

His mind yells stop.
His body stops.
He begins to mouth stop.
He shouts to her, 'stop'.

'Don't go.'
'Why shouldn't I?'
'How will I ever know?'
'Know what?'

'What will it be like, spending my life with you?
Sharing every moment with you?
I haven't got a clue,
What the future holds for us,
But this is something I must
Say;
Because you're running away,
I know exactly how much you mean to me.
So please don't leave.'
