Pirates

Hopeless we stand,
Here on this land.
Where have the feelings gone?
Why has everything turned wrong?

Talk about us please,
Before we start sailing the seas.
Away from one another,
And the heartbreak smothers.

Revolution

A storm that can be heard miles away.
The sight of which will stop people.
They wonder if they should go or stay.

It grows stronger as it passes each block,
Residents begin to panic.
Police try to control those running amok.

A thunder of footsteps,
As the peaceful ones march in silence,
Shouting for change in their heads.

Performance

A blinding spotlight,
A tingling feeling in your stomach.
Singing out into the night.

A stage full of props,
The feel of them in your hands.
Action with no stops.

A dark sea of audience,
The invisible faces of belief.
Hanging onto the practised suspense.

A second family of theirs,
The company of co-actors.
Such is showbiz.

Warcry

A fist in the sky;
The signal of victory for the clan.
At the sight of the hand,
In relief, soldiers begin to sigh.
In the night, spirits run high,
As they victory-dance to the band,
All traces of misery canned.
All in the world is right.

Strength

Time can't heal.
Time never heals.
That wound will always kill.

You are the strong one.
You, yourself must overcome,
That feeling of being alone.

Naturally, seek help from others,
It's no use hiding in the covers,
That feeling will just smother.

Only you can stop the tears,
Especially those that no one else sees,
Mend yourself and the skies will clear.

Road Back Home

Poem #12 [for 12/01/10, posted on the 13/01/10]:

Road Back Home

I want to see you again,
'Cause living without you,
Just isn't the same.

I miss seeing you melt,
Every time you see me.
Hope you're doing well.

I miss your sweet voice,
Hearing you speak,
Keeps my world poise.

I miss not being alone,
I miss you whole-heartedly,
Wish you would come home.

A Pulse

Poem #11 [for 11/01/10, posted on the 12/01/10]:

A Pulse

The Children of the Night revel,
They fear not the sun,
But rather in its warmth,
They sleep well.

So they dance when the moon rides high,
Under the stars they flow,
Like waves they rise and fall,
With the same energy as the high tide.

So they sing to the dark sky,
Loud and clear ring the notes,
Melody and Harmony,
A Symphony that weaves their lives.

So they pass their days this way,
Unity and Passion,
Strength and Happiness,
A Love that keeps their souls awake.

Haiku

Poem #10 [for 10/01/10, posted on the 12/01/10]:

A Haiku

Seasons Autumn, Spring,
Winter, Summer, all four bring,
A mix of flavour.

Forgetting All Else

Poem #9 [for 09/01/10, posted on the 12/01/10]:

Forgetting All Else

A cloudless sky,
Greets the rising sun.
The roosters cry,
So begins another day of fun.

A musician playing,
Improvising to the rhythm of the street.
Alms seekers' faces' brightening,
At the free meal they begin to eat.

Children laughing,
Whilst on the swing at the playground.
Young lovers chuckling,
Sitting on the merry-go-round.

Enjoyment of life,
And its surprises as it should be,
Getting past the strife,
Understanding, Wisdom, and Knowledge is the key.

Insecurities, Doubts

Poem #8 [for 08/01/10, posted on the 11/01/10]:

Insecurities, Doubts

Her lips, her eyes,
Her complexion, her skin,
Her soul, her heart.

That glow on her face when she smiles,
The elegant way she walks,
He's a lucky guy.

A bruise around her eye,
A hand print on her skin,
A hole in her heart.

The mascara running down her face when she cries,
The depressed slump when she walks,
He's a fucking bastard.

A Dream to Live For

Poem #7 [for 07/01/10, posted on the 10/01/10]:

A Dream to Live For

The excuse spills from her mouth,
Apparently cruel to be kind,
He stands there staring South,
Ignoring her as the flashback unwinds.

Sitting there at the top of the hill,
Watching the sunrise, or was it sunset?
Like a scene from a movie reel,
A silhouette as their eyes, then lips met.

Sitting side by side in the cinema,
Watching the romance unfold,
His arm around her shoulders,
Keeping her from the cold.

A bell sounds faraway,
It brings him back to reality,
He can't seem to find words to say,
For the reason he finds no sympathy.

He faces her with a brave mask,
But as he turns around the tears start flowing,
For the rest of the day he ignores his tasks,
He can't ignore the hole in his life that has now grown.

Eye of the Storm

Poem #6 [for 06/01/10, posted on the 10/01/10]:

Eye of the Storm

Shatter the waves,
Unite the storm,
Let the echo ripple in your bones.

Lightning cry,
Thunder strike,
Let the tears flood your sight.

The howling winds,
The scream of nature,
Cosmos ignore the furore.

Skies split open,
Heavens groan,
Turbulence of a broken heart re-sewn.

Dying of Loneliness

Poem #5 [for 05/01/10, posted on the 10/01/10]:

Dying of Loneliness

I left my soul on the dark side of the night,
I looked up and saw such a wondrous sight,
The stars were sparkling ever so bright,
They brought my soul back into the light.

I trudge through dead tomorrows and forgotten yesterdays,
It begins to feel lonely when I live on whilst all else decays.
What's your notion of love doing as the world rots?
It crumbles too, like the souls of rocks.

Sleep Deprivation

Poem #4 [for 04/01/10, posted on the 05/01/10]:

Sleep Deprivation

Pure hatred oozing down his cheeks,
Tears of Anger,
He can love no longer.

Sadness seeping through his skin,
Perspiration of Loneliness,
He gets no rest.

A cure, A cure,
For an ailment,
In the form of new resentment.

Energy drains from his body,
Facades of Despair,
His heart is beyond repair.

Forgetfulness aids the healing process,
Memories of Touch,
His soul is crushed.

A fire, A fire,
Burns within,
It's the bucket he won't be kicking.

Renewal

Travelling down the highway,
Stopped.
Traffic flowing in the streets,
Stopped.

A glass on the table,
Dropped and shattered.
A heart worn on a sleeve,
Dropped and shattered.

Stars in the night sky,
Blinked.
Dust in your eye,
Blinked.

Pages of a book,
Read.
Blood dripping,
Red.

I Gotta Feeling

Poem #2 [for 02/01/10, posted on the 03/01/10]:

I Gotta Feeling

All over and over again,
Towards the end of the tunnel,
Flying away from danger,
Passing through meadows of purity.

Volleying through the air,
Climbing up,
Nosediving down,
This is but a glimpse of freedom.

To be bound by the laws of physics,
Such is the mundane life.
Travelling along the stony earth,
Innocence crumbles.

Passing through meadows of purity,
Flying away from danger,
Towards the end of the tunnel,
All over and over again.

2010 - Poem #1

Let's herald in the new year,
With a poem from the heart.
But I'd like to make it clear,
That it'll take a while to start.

Twenty-ten brings us another year older,
It makes us another year more mature.
As we grow bolder,
Our minds grow less pure.

Life will take unexpected turns,
As it always does,
But from these we will learn,
And learn to love.

Take a step up to your dream,
Grab that chance for something great,
Impossible as it may seem,
Don't let it by or you'll regret.

So fly higher than you've ever flown,
Into the skies blue and clear,
Go on a new adventure, just roam.
Happy, happy New Year.
